Prompt:
During the course of the musical, the job in which I was required to undertake was a stage prompt. This job required me to have a copy of the script and follow it closely as the musical was running and make sure that none of the actors forgot their lines, and if they did it was my job to assist them with the first couple of words in their line and this helped the show run smoothly. This job was successful as none of the actors forgot their lines and it made the job much simpler and I was able to help out with some other jobs that needed to be completed backstage. The difficulties of my job were that if someone was to forget their lines, it would have been hard for them to hear me tell them the beginning of their line as were I was located was very far away from where the actors were acting and because the actors moved all around the stage they didn’t just stay at the front wing where I was located.
Backstage hand:
On the last night of the musical I was needed to assist with helping the backstage crew as we were down on crew members and this was one of the most important jobs in the whole musical that needed to be undertaken correctly for the show to go ahead. My role as a backstage hand was to make sure a copy of the stage plan was near us and to make sure that we knew when to change the scenes and what props went where on the stage. In this role it was our job to ensure that we knew where the props went on the stage and to follow the scene plans to make sure we knew exactly when to put them in their place. Most of the time we completed this successfully and everything went to plan, but there were a few times when we forgot to move a prop or we didn’t perform the scene change correctly and we had to discretely change the scene without the audience noticing. Apart from a few mistakes, I think that the backstage crew played a big part in the musical and that we performed our job to the best of our abilities to make sure the musical went as planned.
Very Good reflection.
